The day before yesterday someone hacked into my account. This is what I wrote to Club Penguin Support:

This is what they wrote back:

Hello,

Thanks for writing in, I am happy to help. I would like to assure you that it is not possible for someone to ‘hack’ into a penguin account that does not belong to them. We have many security features in place to prevent this from happening.

The only possible way that a penguin account can be accessed is with the exact account password that is attached to the penguin. The following are the only ways that someone could access a penguin account:

1. If the password is shared with someone.
2. If the ‘Remember Me’ and/or ‘Remember my Password’ option is selected on a public or shared computer.
3. If the password is simply too easy to figure out.

Due to the damage that can be done to an account by simply sharing the password, we encourage penguins to take the necessary measures to be safe online.

Please know that, since we have no way of knowing who is behind the computer, it is ultimately the responsibility of the account owner to make sure that their password is kept secure and their account remains ban free. We suggest to our players not to leave their penguins logged in when they are not near the computer and not to have their penguin name and password saved to a public computer.

I understand that you have experienced some difficulties with items/coins not saving properly to your account. At this time we aren’t experiencing any bugs or glitches related to items not saving properly to an account. There are three reasons why your progress may not save properly. I would be happy to give you some suggestions to ensure that you will not have this problem in the future.

**Please have your parent or guardian review this email with you. This is so that we can be sure we have done everything to help solve this problem. **

To start, it is possible that you lost Internet Connection while you were playing. When you lose connection or if it is momentarily interrupted, it can appear that your account is still active and you may not receive a notification stating that you have been disconnected from Club Penguin. It is important to establish that the following scenarios are ruled out as possible reasons for a loss of connection:

- Connecting to the Internet with either a wireless router or modem
- A damaged or pinched Internet cable
- Too many streaming connections running at the same time, such as third party downloads or streaming radio
- Programs running on your computer that require too much from your processor

Please ensure that you are always logging off properly when you are finished playing Club Penguin by clicking on the Log Off button at the top right hand corner of your screen. If you have been editing your igloo, remember to click the “save igloo” disk-icon before exiting the game.

If you are confident that you have been logging off properly and that you have a steady Internet Connection then I would like to suggest that as a precaution, you change your password. If someone else knows your penguin password they might be trying to login to your penguin at the same time you are. Doing this can disconnect you from Club Penguin and any coins earned or items purchased during that time may be lost.

If you have noticed changes to your account or that your coins have been spent, someone may be accessing your account. Your parent or guardian can update your password through their Parent Account. If they do not have a Parent Account they can create one at the following link:

https://secure.clubpenguin.com/manage_account/login.php

Changing your password will secure your account once again. If you keep your password a secret and don’t save it on any public computers, you can be sure that you will be the only player that can login to your penguin!

Finally, I am able to reimburse you for your loss. I have added 2000 coins to your account. Please know that I am only able to add coins to your account this one time, under these circumstances. Should you continue to experience troubles with your progress not saving to your account please let us know and we would be happy to look into the matter further with you.

I truly hope that you continue to enjoy Club Penguin. Feel free to contact us at anytime with your questions, ideas or suggestions! We always enjoy receiving the input and feedback from our penguin pals.

Waddle on!

Alisa

So there you go. It is not possible for someone to hack into your account so we are now safe!
